Scientific Programme

 Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to announce that 5th Minkowski European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Advanced Postgraduate Course in Clinical Diabetes will be organised in Wroclaw (Breslau), Poland, 8-10 March 2012.

The course, organised by the EASD Postgraduate Education Committee in collaboration with Diabetes Poland (Polish professional diabetes society), is a three-day meeting with the most prominent European diabetologists; its scope will cover in a hands-on manner all important scientific and clinical aspects of modern diabetes care. The course is addressed to the physicians from Central and Eastern Europe interested in treating diabetes and its complications according to the Evidence Based Medicine rules. The preference in accepting applications will be given to those who have never attended the Wroclaw course before and who are making their first steps in diabetes care.

The programme of the course consists of 19 lectures and 9 workshops, all held in English, all set in the beautiful city of Wroclaw, an old and multi-ethnic cultural centre located right at the heart of Europe. The number of participants is limited and should not exceed 150 persons. The invited speakers are all well known for their achievements in diabetes research and practice: e.g. Tadej Battelino (Slovenia), Andrew J. M. Boulton (UK; the current President of the EASD), Per-Henrik Groop (Finland), Martin Haluzik (Czech Republic), Peter Kempler (Hungary), Johnny Ludvigsson (Sweden), Maciej Malecki (Poland), Boris Mankovsky (Ukraine), Elisabeth Mathiesen (Denmark), Asimina Mitrakou (Greece), Massimo Porta (Italy), Dimitri Pournaras (UK), Karin Schara (Slovenia), Tomasz Klupa (Poland), Cees J. Tack (the Netherlands), Dorota Zozulinska-Ziolkiewicz (Poland).

There is no registration fee and the costs for accommodation and board are covered by the EASD and the local organisers; participants are only asked to pay for their own travel to and from Wroclaw.
