The AIDPIT Study Group addresses key research areas, that offer the most progress in comparison to current treatment options:

  1. Therapeutic devices, in particular development of insulin delivery systems and glucose-sensors (along with fast- or long-acting insulin or insulin analogues) and
  2. Biologic therapy, such as replacement of the defunct endogenous pancreatic islet cells by transplantation of vascularised pancreas, isolated islet cells or pancreas regeneration.

Diabetes Neuropathy Study Group (NEURODIAB) Visit Website

NEURODIAB is a study group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) with special responsibility for Diabetic Neuropathy. Its aim is to promote the advance of knowledge on all aspects of diabetic neuropathy through an active cooperation between interested diabetologists and other specialists such as neurologists, neurophysiologists, urologists, gastroenterologists, etc. In pursuit of this aim it will also encourage appropriate surveys and clinical trials.

EASDec is a study group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) with special responsibility for all eye complications of Diabetes. Its AIM is to promote the advance of knowledge on all aspects of diabetic retinopathy, including epidemiology, pathology, pathophysiology and treatment of this complication of diabetes mellitus through an active cooperation between ophthalmologists and diabetologists.
The ultimate goal of the Group is to prevent the development of diabetic retinopathy and to search far the best treatment of this condition in diabetic patients.

The Diabetic Nephropathy Study Group of the EASD is established with the aim of assembling researchers interested in diabetic renal disease in order to study epidemiology, pathology, pathophysiology and treatment of this complication of diabetes mellitus. The ultimate goal of the Group is to prevent the appearance or the development of kidney disease and to search far the best treatment of this condition in diabetic patients.

The EASD Islet Study Group arose from discussions of participants of the islet meeting held at Coleraine 15-18 September 1991. Since this time, the Group has held meetings annually in close association with the main EASD Congress. Approximately 120 participants attend each meeting, which are of 2-days duration.
