International Conference on Healthcare Integrated biobanking and Multiomics Biomarker Analysis, Regensburg, Germany 1 - 5 July 2014
In addition, a pre-conference workshop on “Lipidomics for biomarker and clinical analysis” will take place during July 1-3, 2014.
The workshop will present lipidomic approaches to investigate body fluids, cells and tissues with a focus on prealanytics, analytical strategies as well as data processing and visualization.
The goal of the conference is to transfer recent research and innovative biomarker candidates from diverse body fluid- and cell-based analyses into applications for health-care integrated biobanking, diagnostics, clinical practice, therapy-monitoring and outcome prediction.
It covers multiomics analysis of a broad range of aging disorders such as vascular diseases, “diabesity”, neurodegenerative diseases and inflammation
The conference and the workshop will bring together researchers, clinicians and industry to address the latest developments in health care integrated biobanking and multiomics biomarker analysis.
In addition, the current status of the health-care integrated diagnostic and therapeutic biobank facility of the Institute for Laboratory Medicine and Transfusion Medicine at the UKR will be presented.

2nd Annual Helmholtz-Nature Medicine Diabetes Conference. Munich, Germany, 21-23 September 2014
Helmholtz Zentrum München and Nature Medicine initiated a successful conference last year and continue the tradition with their second meeting this fall - featuring the Helmholtz Diabetes Lecture, in recognition of the lifetime achievements of a senior leader in the field, given by Jeffrey Friedman (Rockefeller University).
The meeting brings together top scientists as well as promising young researchers from different diabetes disciplines. In a smaller, more personal setting, the invited speakers share their unpublished research and network with attendees. The goal is that the scientific discussions will foster collaborations that will abate the diabetes pandemic.
Addressing the preeminent scientific challenges in current diabetes research, the interdisciplinary program combines multidimensional and translational research approaches. In addition to a focus on type 2 diabetes and obesity, this year’s scientific program includes a session on type 1 diabetes. Furthermore, the 2nd conference will feature a Scientific Round Table Session, in which selected young researchers have the opportunity to discuss their projects with the invited speakers.
The Helmholtz Young Investigator in Diabetes (HeIDi) Award, in recognition of a rising star, will be presented to a nominated young researcher who is selected by an esteemed panel.
To view the program, plenary speakers and HeIDi nominees and to register for the conference, please visit the conference website.

DIABESITY CME Course, Tenerife, Canary Islands, 1 - 2 November 2014
DIABESITY is a working group of the European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA). DIABESITY aims to generate and disseminate knowledge on diabetes and obesity-related renal disease. One of the major activities of DIABESITY in 2014 will be the CME course:
“DIABESITY: Diabetes and Obesity in Renal Disease”
In this meeting, we will discuss several aspects i.e. insulin resistance and renal disease, renal-lipotoxicity, glomerular hyperfiltration, non-proteinuric GFR decline, animal models of renal damage in obesity, renal histology in obese subjects and the impact of life-style interventions in GFR decline.

7th International Symposium on the Diabetic Foot. The Hague, The Netherlands, 20 - 23 May 2015
You are cordially invited to participate in the 7th International Symposium on the Diabetic Foot. In this unique multidisciplinary symposium the latest scientific developments will be presented; both findings from basic research and clinical insights important to everybody’s daily practice will be discussed.
A variety of well-known specialists will present state of the art lectures on a broad selection of topics regarding prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lower extremity problems in diabetes. Interactive workshops will provide you with useful information for daily clinical practice.
This meeting has become the standard international (scientific) meeting on this topic. Due to the success of our earlier meetings in Noordwijkerhout, a new and larger venue was selected: the World Forum Convention Center in The Hague, the Netherlands. The Hague is a beautiful city behind the dunes, full of history, royalty and museums, and is only 45 minutes away from Amsterdam airport by public transport.
We look forward to welcoming you in May 2015!
