EASD Early Career Academy Meeting 2026
Are you a young researcher looking for a unique learning and networking experience with distinguished experts and emerging leaders in diabetes?
Join us for the second EASD Early Career Academy (ECA) Meeting, a unique 3-day learning and networking experience designed to foster excellence and collaboration among the next generation of basic and clinical diabetes researchers.

Content / Programme
The multi-day programme will include interactive lectures, workshops, discussions and hands-on sessions designed to promote exchange between participants and leading experts in diabetes. It will cover current advances in basic and clinical research, practical skill development and collaborative training, while providing valuable opportunities for networking, career growth and engagement within the EASD community.

Criteria and Eligibility
Applications are welcomed from both basic and clinical researchers who are paid-up EASD members and at an early stage of their career.
Applicants should have obtained their highest degree (MD or PhD) not more than seven years before 1 January 2026 (Extensions are applicable for documented parental leave and career breaks).
Participants must be fluent in English and are required to attend the full meeting in person to ensure effective participation and discussion.
The EASD ECA Committee will review all applications and make the final selection based on eligibility and the quality of submitted materials.
Cost of the Meeting
The course is sponsored by EASD and has no registration fee. Costs of accommodation, main meals and social events during the meeting are covered by EASD.
Failure to attend the full event after acceptance, without prior or adequate explanation sent to the EASD office by e-mail, may result in the applicant being asked for full financial compensation.
Note: Participants are kindly asked to make their own travel arrangements, including bookings, passport and visa requirements.
Travel Grant
Participants should make applications to their own local organisations for travel allowances or funding.
Alternatively, a limited number of EASD travel grants will be available for eligible participants. Priority will be given on an individual basis to participants from under-represented countries or with limited economic resources
Application
All information will be treated confidentially and will be shared with the Early Career Academy Committee who will make the selection. Consent will be asked to share your personal and contact information with other attendees for future collaborative projects.
Your application must include the following:
- A short biosketch, including a recent picture (optional & only for the booklet)
- A brief explanation of how you think the meeting will help your research (max 250 words)
- OPTIONAL: An abstract that will be published in the meeting booklet (max 250 words). Best abstracts will be presented at the meeting and selected for a "Best Abstract Award".
