EASD Early Career Academy at the EASD Annual Meeting 2025
The Early Career Academy was again actively involved in shaping the programme of the EASD Annual Meeting 2025 in Vienna, with several engaging sessions organised directly by us.
These sessions covered open science, peer review, predatory journals, and the ethics of the scientific publishing process, as well as the challenges and opportunities of communicating research through social media. They were designed to help early career researchers and clinicians gain fresh insights into the evolving landscape of diabetes research and inspiring reflections on their respective professional growth.
Best Abstract Awards
As in previous years, we evaluated abstracts submitted for the Annual Meeting and presented the Best Abstract Awards to eight early career researchers in total. The awardees were celebrated during the Presidential Address, and certificates were handed over at the Early Career Academy Social Event - a lively, interactive networking opportunity in a relaxed.
Best Abstract Award recipients are Luke Sharp, Sian Grace, Tue Leth Nielsen, Rasmus Michael Sandsal, Noemi Cimbalo, Jolien De Meulemeester, Anniina Tynjälä and Line Bruun Eriksen.
Congratulations once again to the recipients of the Best Abstract Awards, and many thanks to everyone who joined us for our activities at the EASD Annual Meeting in Vienna!
Looking Ahead
A heartfelt thank you goes to the outgoing members, most notably, ECA Chair, Prof. Patrick Schrauwen, who will be leaving the Early Career Academy. We are grateful for his dedication over the past years which strengthened the foundation for the ECA’s success. His commitment and vision made our achievements possible.
We now look forward to welcoming our new ECA chair as they guide early career researchers and clinicians in building these efforts, bringing fresh energy, new perspectives, and innovative ideas to continue growing our activities.
