Sustainability at the EASD Annual Meeting
The EASD Annual Meeting is the largest diabetes-related congress in Europe, welcoming thousands of delegates coming from all over the world to learn more about the latest results from diabetes research as well as clinical treatment and care.
As a medical scientific organisation, EASD is aware of the global challenges climate change puts on societies and healthcare systems worldwide. Therefore, we are committed to contribute in several ways to reduce our carbon footprint and turning the EASD Annual Meeting greener.
We also encourage all our partners and delegates to take actions helping to protect our planet. Please join us not only in making the congress a scientific success but also in making it greener.
A healthy environment is essential, not only for people living with chronic diseases such as diabetes but for all of us.
EASD has carefully selected the Messe Wien - Exhibition and Congress Center as the venue for the 61st EASD Annual Meeting, 15 - 19 September 2025, as the venue stands for responsible, sustainable business and their measures include not only economic but also ecological and social aspects.

Mindful Materials
- We limit the use of carpet and, where needed, we use reusable, recyclable and/or recycled carpet tiles
- Where printing is needed, we use FSC-certified paper
More Than Green: Supporting People and the Planet
At EASD, sustainability also includes social responsibility which we support by the following measures:
- EASD supports multidisciplinary encounters, diversity and inclusion
- Different registration fees to facilitate the participation of early-career researchers and clinicians as well as students
- Measures to ensure health and safety of the staff, presenters and delegates
- Travel grants to enable early-career researchers and clinicians as well as students to present their research
- Online participation to make the congress accessible for those not able to afford travel and accommodation
