Nominations for members of the Board (Executive Committee) of the EASD/EASD e.V.

We are asking members of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD/EASD e.V.)1 to submit nominations for members of the Board (Executive Committee) to serve from 2019.

We are endeavouring to ensure that the Board of the organisation is regularly renewed and reflects the opinions of the membership. With this in mind we have retained the services of Electoral Reform Services (ERS)2. The Board have agreed on the process which is outlined below and the voting will take place electronically overseen by ERS. In particular we want a wide representation of skills, and with this in mind we are asking those who have been nominated to fill out a brief Skills Matrix. This will help us to ensure that clinical medicine and pure science is properly represented and that we have board members skilled in other important aspect of our work.

The nominations and skills will be assessed by the Board, and short-listed candidates’ names will be put forward for an electronic vote using an order-of-preference single transferrable vote open to all paid-up members current on January 23rd 2019.

The regulations of the nomination process are:

  1. Any person who was a fully paid-up member of the EASD/EASD e.V. in January 2019 and who has been continuously a member for the last 5 years is eligible for election to the Board, with the exception that those employed by the pharmaceutical or devices industries are not eligible.
  2. Nominations should come from three members of the EASD/EASD e.V. who have been continuously members for the last four years. No-one may nominate more than one person.
  3. Nominees will need to provide:
    • agreement for their nomination;
    • a short curriculum vitae (no more than 1 side of A4 in 11 point); and
    • a completed skills matrix to include a brief description of each skill designated.
  4. Nominations will close at 23:59 GMT on Wednesday 23rd January 2019.
  5. Nominations should be made online at www.ersvotes.com/easd19.
  6. An example skills matrix together with a blank version for nominees to complete are also available at www.ersvotes.com/easd19.
  7. Confirmation of nominees agreement, curriculum vitae and completed skills matrix should be emailed to customerservices@electoralreform.co.uk.

Finally, thank you for your help in supporting the EASD, and we hope to welcome you to our Annual Meeting in Barcelona in September this year.

Yours sincerely and with kind regards,

Prof David R. Matthews President of the EASD

1 EASD/EASD e.V. is the legal term we need to use for the EASD since we changed our structure some years ago. It allows membership years to be counted correctly.
