Committee on Clinical Affairs Open Call

The EASD Committee on Clinical Affairs calls for three new Committee Members

Application deadline: 31 August 2025

EASD is increasingly involved in the production of guidelines, consensus reports and position statements, often in collaboration with other European and global organisations. The statements have significant visibility and have, particularly concerning statements on treatment and diagnosis criteria, substantial impact on health care policy.

The EASD Committee on Clinical Affairs (CCA) was established to take responsibility for structuring and overseeing EASD’s activities in the development of formal statements, consensus reports, and other clinical resources that complement the clinical practice guidelines.

The mission of the CCA is to ensure that any statement, consensus report or expert opinion report, which is produced and/or endorsed by EASD is appropriate, non-contradictory and consistent with current research findings and best practice in diabetes management. This supports the overarching EASD mission of promoting excellence in diabetes care through research and education and the stated aims of the Association to encourage and support research in the field of diabetes, the rapid diffusion of acquired knowledge and to facilitate its application.

The role of the CCA is to advise the EASD Board on all matters concerning guidance documents. The Committee will:

  • Evaluate all initial requests from members of the Association or other institutions or societies concerning the development of statements, consensus documents and other clinical resources, and advise the EASD Board accordingly.
  • Oversee all activities of the Association in the different committees related to statements, consensus documents and other clinical resources, and advise the EASD Board accordingly.

The EASD CCA is seeking three new Committee members to support its work. We believe that a diverse and dedicated committee is essential to achieving this goal.

If you are a member of EASD and passionate about our mission to translate research findings into improved clinical care, we encourage you to apply to join our Committee.

As a member of the EASD CCA, you will agree to commit for a duration of 4 years, starting from early 2026. Members attend four meetings a year (one in person [compulsory attendance] during the Annual Meeting and three virtual) and are expected to participate actively between meetings by reviewing proposals for the development of position statements etc. according to the EASD Memorandum of Understanding and reviewing completed work prior to forming a recommendation to the Board.

To apply, please send a short letter - max 1 A4 - indicating why you would be interested and like to be selected for this position, as well as a 2-page CV.

Applications are open to clinicians at any stage of their career. Particular attention will be paid to diversity (e.g., gender, geography and expertise) represented in the Committee.

Please apply before 31 August 2025 and send your application letter and CV to clinicalaffairs@easd.org. If you would like further information, please contact Professor Richard Holt (Chair of CCA) on righ@soton.ac.uk.
