EASD Young Academy

In order to improve the networking of young fellows in diabetes research, EASD is implementing a new project, the EASD Young Academy. The aim of this new initiative is to create a structured programme to support young basic and clinical diabetes.

This new and exciting programme will launch at this year’s EASD Annual Meeting in Lisbon by offering the following three Meet the Expert sessions*:

  • Tuesday, 12 September 2017, 12:00 – 14:00: Prof Michael Roden - Nutrient-induced Insulin Resistance and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
  • Wednesday, 13 September 2017, 12:00 – 14:00: Prof Bernard Zinman - Landmark Clinical Trials and Outcome Studies
  • Thursday, 14 September 2017, 12:00 – 14:00: Prof Marc Donath - Anti-inflammatory Agents in Diabetes Treatment

The first hour will be set aside for a presentation. It will contain a brief overview of the expert’s current research, an outline of their career path and personal experiences as well information on how to obtain funding. The second hour is reserved for a general discussion and networking opportunities.

Each session will be limited to 30 attendees and seats will be allocated strictly on a first come first served basis. Kindly note that all participants have to fulfil the following criteria:

  • EASD Member
  • Postdoc <5 years OR
  • MD <7 years,
  • Fellows w/o Faculty appointment
