Dr Konstantinos Toulis

Role: Consultant in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and Honorary Clinical Research Fellow

Institution: 424 General Military Training Hospital (GMTH), Thessaloniki, Greece and Institute of Applied Health Research, University of Birmingham, Greece

Research & Interests: My main area of research is pharmacoepidemiology in type 2 diabetes, with a primary focus on the pleiotropic effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, using pseudo-anonymized patient-level data, routinely collected for healthcare databases.

I am also interested in evidence synthesis and the application of meta-analytical techniques in hypothesis testing. The interplay between glucose and skeletal homeostasis is a research area which I find both promising and intriguing.
